Demand continues to increase for classes
Spokane, Wa – November 1, 2018. Drive509 Truck Driving School celebrated two years of operation in October 2018. Since inception, over 270 students have completed the 160 hour course. Jason Boudreau, owner and operator of Drive509, is also a contracted Washington State CDL tester. “When I started the school, we had one truck and I was the main instructor.” said Boudreau. “In two years, we’ve grown to six full-time employees and ten trucks.”
Drive509 is accredited through the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Board. Students can sign up as individuals or companies may also choose to send employees through the training. Eligible students can get financial assistance through WorkSource to help cover the costs of tuition.
Many current jobs in today’s market require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The transportation industry, heavy equipment, construction, road crews, utility crews, and waste management are just a few of many examples where the jobs require a CDL. In order for a person to obtain a CDL, Washington State requires residents to attend an approved school. The trucking industry continues to face a driver shortage and jobs are in high demand.
Adds Boudreau, “We have recruiters from local trucking companies regularly come and talk to our classes. 100% of our graduates have passed the CDL test, and many of those have jobs waiting for them when they get their CDL.”
