December 12, 2018, Spokane, WA. Effective January 1, 2019 the HAZMAT Endorsement for CDL will require a HAZMAT Training Course Certificate. DRIVE509 will be offering the 16 hour course for CDL holders that need to add the HAZMAT endorsement to a CDL, or for new drivers that are seeking the endorsement for CDL.
Jason Boudreau, owner and operator of Drive509, became aware of the upcoming change this fall. “As a training school, we want to be proactive and meet industry training needs.” said Boudreau. “We have the instructors and facility to offer the training and expect there will be companies in a bind without having a local option.” The school is located at 3730 E Trent, Suite 2, Spokane, WA.
Drive509 is accredited through the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Board for Commercial Driving License training. Students can sign up as individuals or companies may also choose to send employees through the training.
The course will include instruction and hands on practice covering all the topics required by Department of Licensing (DOL) HAZMAT 13 unit curriculum. This will include sections on bulk packages, operations, routes and route planning, safety permits, loading and unloading and emergency response procedures.
In order for a person to obtain a CDL, Washington State requires residents to attend an approved school. The HAZMAT endorsement for CDL requires an additional test and hours from DOL.
Adds Boudreau, “We train people from all over the state and Idaho and have an excellent track record with students passing the CDL exam; we are glad we can offer the HAZMAT training.”
