Starting February 7th, 2022 FMCSA will be implementing a nationwide standard for anyone wanting to get a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
This is a summary of the minimum Federal curriculum requirements for entry-level driver applicants seeking a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Training providers must also comply with any applicable State requirements. The curriculum meets standards for Class A, B and B to A training standards set forth by FMCSA.
Driver-trainees will receive instruction in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and will be introduced to the CMV instruments and controls. Driver-trainees will also be taught the operating characteristics of a CMV.
BTW range training:
Driver-trainees are taught vehicle control skills and mastery of backing maneuvers, as covered in §§ 383.111 and 383.113 of this chapter, necessary to operate the vehicle safely.
Vehicle Controls Including:
- Left Turns
- Right Turns
- Lane Changes
- Curves at Highway Speeds
- Entry and Exit on the Interstate or Controlled Access Highway
Driver-Trainees Must Demonstrate:
- Proficiency in Proper Techniques for Initiating Vehicle Movement
- Executing Left and Right Turns
- Changing Lanes, Navigating Curves at Safe Speeds
- Entry and Exit on the Interstate or Controlled Access Highway, and Stopping the Vehicle in a Controlled Manner.
